PENINGKATAN LITERASI DIGITAL PADA SISWA GENERASI MILENIAL SEBAGAI UPAYA PENANGKALAN BERITA HOAKS DI SMA NEGERI 1 MERANGIN
Abstract
The rapid development of digital technology brings both positive impacts and significant challenges for the millennial generation, including the increasing spread of hoax news on social media. Limited ability among students to filter valid information can lead to misperceptions and irresponsible digital behavior. This community service program aims to enhance the digital literacy skills of students at SMA Negeri 1 Merangin and strengthen their understanding of how to identify, analyze, and prevent the dissemination of hoax information. The implementation methods include socialization sessions, interactive training, case demonstrations, and mentoring on the safe and responsible use of digital platforms. The results show an improvement in students’ understanding of hoax indicators, their ability to verify information through credible sources, and their critical attitude toward receiving and sharing online content. Through this program, students are able to apply digital literacy skills more effectively and contribute to creating a school environment that is free from hoaxes. This activity is expected to serve as a model for strengthening digital literacy in other schools facing similar information challenges in the digital era
